Eckington II 180 for 8 beat Cuckney II 170 all out.

Eckington second team won their first game of the season in the Bassetlaw Division 5 game. Eckington batted first and openers Clive Stevens (54) and Mike Long (28) got the home side off to a good start reaching 74 before the first wicket was lost. Andy Vaughan (40) took the score on to 157 before he was out, helped by Denzel Booth (11) and C Barker (23). Eckington finished on 180 for 8. Cuckney got off to a bad start losing their first wicket without scoring and by the time they had reached 100 they had lost 6 wickets. J Lucas (81), S Ostler (18) and G Searson (23) put up some resistance but when Lucas was out with the score on 166 the innings was virtually over and they were bowled out for 170 in the final over. Steve Allcock took 4 for 48, Matt Barker 2 for 34, Wayne Dye 3 for 41 and Clive Stevens 1 for 44.


Eckington 2nd XI 166 for 6 lost to Marshalls 2nd XI 170 for 6.

Eckington seconds lost a close match in their Bassetlaw division 5 game against visitors Marshalls. Eckington batted first and openers Clive Stevens (34) and Mike Long (50) got the home side off to a good start. When Long was out the score had reached 102 for 2. The home side then lost three quick wickets for 8 runs. Chris Barker (16), Jim Kay (14no) and Richard Mason (12no) then helped Eckington onto a final score of 166 for 6. T Snee took 4 for 36 for the visitors. Some good bowling by the Eckington attack reduced Marshalls to 95 for 5 at one stage but G Cooke (85no) and I Brookes (37) moved the score on to 160 for 6. With four needed off the final over Marshalls scraped home with 3 balls to spare. For Eckington the wicket takers were Mason 1 for 23, Mat Barker 1 for 47, Chris Barker 1 for 20, Stevens 1 for 39 and K Leeming 1 for 7.


Eckington 2nd XI 196 for 6 drew with Blidworth 2nd XI 160 for 6.

Eckington came away with 16 points as they had the better of the draw against Blidworth in their Bassetlaw League Division 5 match. The home side batted first and after losing an early wicket Clive Stevens (68) and Nick Dawson (23) had a partnership of 85 before the latter was out with the score on 91. Eckington then lost two quick wickets but Matt Barker (41) and Denzel Booth (26no) steadied the ship and the home side finished their innings on 196 for 6. For the visitors Breadon took 3 for 48 and Sear 2 for 37. The visitors reply didn’t get off to a good start as 2 early wickets had them struggling on 17 for 2. But fine knocks from D Evans (37), D Donaldson (57) and R Thomas (36no) kept the visitors in the game until captain Steve Allcock took three quick wickets and Blidworth closed on 160 for 6. For Eckington Steve Allcock had fine figures of 5 for 15 and Eddie Allcock 1 for 18 was the other wicket taker.


Eckington 2nd XI 188 for 6 beat Basford Mill 187

Eckington produced a fine victory in the Bassetlaw Division 5 game against Basford Mill thanks to an excellent innings by Mat Barker. The visitors batting first lost early wickets thanks to good bowling from Steve Allcock (3 for 59) and Richard Mason (2 for 37). At one stage Basford were 92 for 5 but after fine knocks from Wilkinson (50) and Attenborough (27) the visitors went on to 164. The introduction of youngsters Sam Saxton who took 4 for 80 and Adam Leonard 1 for 23 then produced a collapse as Basford lost their last 5 wickets for 23 runs and finished on 187 all out with Eckington claiming 3 extra over’s. Eckington’s reply got off to a bad start as they were reduced to 34 for 3. Rob Carlile (28) and Mat Barker started the recovery as they pushed the score on to 86 before Carlile was out. Eckington lost another quick wicket at 91 and Barker was joined at the crease by Danny Sellers. Both these batsman batted well as a succession of boundaries were hit and when Sellers was out for 28 Eckington only required 4 runs to win. Barker duly hit the last ball for 4 as he went on to score a magnificent 98 not out and claim victory for Eckington.


Eckington 2nd XI 135 All Out lost to Bolsover 2nd XI 136 for 6.

Eckington lost a close game in their Bassetlaw League Division 5 game against Bolsover. Batting first Eckington lost a wicket in the first over. They then moved onto 64 before 2 more wickets fell at that score, Rob Carlile making 47. Mat Barker carried on his good form from last week as he to made 47 before he was out, but these were the only two batsmen to make double figures as the visitors were bowled out for 135. P Blair took 4 wickets and N Pike 3 wickets for the home side. Bolsover reached 48 before Eckington took two wickets and when the home side were reduced to 57 for 4 Eckington were in with a chance of victory. Steady batting from J Cowley (26) ,N Pike(39) and C Walker (21) guided the home side to victory as the reached their target with the loss of 6 wickets. Wickets for Eckington were Richard Mason 2, Steve Allcock 1, Denzel Booth 1, Clive Stevens 1 and Rob Carlile 1.
